According to the International Dyslexia Association, Structured Literacy teaching is the most effective approach for students who experience unusual difficulty learning to read and spell printed words. Structured Literacyā€”grounded in the Science of Readingā€”incorporates the components identified as necessary for reading proficiency and emphasizes the use of explicit, systematic, diagnostic, and responsive instruction. In this session, participants will learn how to use data to plan small group structured literacy instruction. Participants will learn instructional routines for teaching phonemic awareness, phonics, and word study that align with the Science of Reading research.
